5 Beginner Skateboarding Tricks

Skateboarding is a very popular sport among young people these days. Learning to skateboard isn't something that happens over night. For most beginners, it usually takes about a year to learn simple skateboard tricks like the kickflip or 360 kickflip. Its best to acknowledge that skateboarding is a difficult sport to master and will take tons of practice.

Here are some easy skateboarding tricks to learn for any skateboarder that is just starting out. Make sure you know how to at least ride your board without falling first!

  1. The Manuel-The Manual is a wheelie on a skateboard. It is when you ride on the back wheels while the front wheels are off the ground. Start with some moderate speed and lift your front trucks off the ground by applying all your weight over back truck. Don't lean to far back as you will likely fall backwards and slip out. The key point is to keep your weight centered directly on top of the back truck. It is all about balance.
  2. Nose Manual- The nose manual is the same thing as a regular manual but instead of balancing on the back wheels you balance on the front. The key point is to keep your weight on your front foot and centered directly over the front trucks. Don't lean to far forward as you will fall on you face!
  3. Boneless- A boneless is when you grab your board with your right hand, (left hand if you ride goofy) take off your front foot, plant it on the ground, pop you board up and jump back on. Start with some moderate speed. Squat down and grab your board with your right arm. (left if your goofy) Take your front foot off and plant it on the ground. You want to give the tail a little pop while you jump. Bring your front foot back on the board after you pop it.
  4. The Ollie- The ollie is a when you jump with your skateboard. It is the basis of almost every trick. You might want to try this in a stationary position before you try while rolling. Set your feet up with your back foot on the tail and your front foot just behind the front bolts. Pop down the tail with your back foot, jump up while sliding your front foot up the board towards the nose. The sliding up of your front foot causes the board to even out in the air. Come back down and land. The ollie should be performed all in one motion.
  5. Pop Shove It- The pop shove it is when you make the board spin 180 degrees under you and land back on it. Set up your feet in the ollie position. Scoop the tail of your skateboard by pulling your back foot towards the direction behind you. While doing this you want push your front foot in the direction in front of you. This will cause the board to spin. Catch your board after it spins 180 degrees and land.
